 Our Dazor lamps make stitching a joy again. The Dazor magnifying lamp combines proper lighting with magnification providing the two key factors to enhance your vision. The "floating arm" lets you position the light source and lens with the touch of a finger. The all metal head that houses the magnifying lens is designed to provided years of service. The Dazor Manufacturing Corp. warrants the product for 5 years for defects in mechanical operation and electrical components.

 We have two model types on display in the shop. The Circline lamp has a round bulb that provides light from all directions. It now comes with a Daylight bulb, a true color light comparable to the light in the Ott lights. The Wide View Rectangulars Lens model is commonly referred to as the "Stretch View" lamp. It provides a much greater magnification viewing area with the cool white light source at the rear of the magnifier.

Choose from either Circline or Stretch View; Almond or Black and either pedestal , caster or desk model. Because this is a special order product, prepayment is required. Our usual free drop shipping is not available at the sale price. Lamps may be picked up from the shop around the middle of June.

It's time to make your plans to attend CAMP STITCH AWAY 1999. I need to guarantee 25 persons to Ave Maria Retreat House so I have to have an idea of the number of people to expect. If you would like to attend please be sure to let us know. We would hate to have to cancel camp because of insufficient numbers. We can work with you on payment options and registration deadlines but we MUST know by June 12th if you think that you are or may be coming.

 Beginning on May 12th, the second Wednesday of each month has been designated "Birthday Wednesday". Customers celebrating a birthday during that month will receive a 10% discount and a birthday "gift" with their stitching purchases. Bring your driver's license as you will be required to show proof that it's your birthday month.

Those Mill Hill treasures that are called for in so many charts are a shopowner's nightmare!!! Many of you may notice that the shop does not carry all of Mill Hill's Glass & Crystal Treasures. When they were new we stocked the entire line. We soon learned that some of them sell regularly and some of them are never going to be chosen for use by our customers. There are now over 300 styles. We can no longer determine which ones will sell and which will not. To make matters worse we almost never know in advance when treasures will be used in any chart. To make matters even more difficult only one company carries the entire line of treasures. This makes our trying to order them incredibly difficult because every shop in the US, Canada and Europe are placing orders for the same items. We are often faced with back orders. We are very happy to special order any Mill Hill Treasure for you but we would like you to know that it could take up to 6 weeks or longer to receive the orders. The patience that you show us is deeply appreciated.

 Are you accenting your stitching projects with a part of your own personality? Do you only stitch exactly what the designer puts on the chart? The recent Customer Show off that we attempted to hold in the shop was very revealing. It indicated that apparently most of our customers don't make any changes to the charts. Our personalities in the shop (remember there are 7 distinctively different personalities here) all agree that the designer's chart should only be your starting point. Let us help you stitch an heirloom that is one of a kind. Get creative. Change something even if it's just a thread color. Add something (a button or a verse, etc) something that makes it distinctively you or the person to whom you will give it. It's really not that difficult to make changes. If you are hesitant to do it yourself, come and ask for our input. We're always ready to add our two cents worth to any discussion. When we all seven agree, we know that we have a good idea!

"Spring Queen" model is stitched on linen over two threads with the body stitched over one thread. It's really quite beautiful. Be sure to take a close look at the model when you are in the shop.

Often we find that beads, buttons, treasures and embellishments are not securely attached to stitching. While we don't want you to use knots, we suggest that you make absolutely sure that your attachements won't come undone. You might want to tug on them before you call your stitching "finished."

 Squizzers are a reinvention of scissors. The manufacturer advises us that: "because the stainless steel used is spring (or memory) steel, it is the blades that do the 'flexing' and removes the pressure from the rivet. The result is a scissors that won't loosen....ever. We [the mfg] guarantee it. Because the memory steel used has no carbon it (like all other steel) it will not rust...ever. We guarantee it. Because we can now triple the shear angle (because of the flexibility) your customers [you] will experience the same cutting efficiency (never before possible) that surgeons around the globe now experience....we guarantee it."

Due to the overwhelming success of our 1999 Pillow Talk club, we are again going to feature our special monthly series of holiday pillows. This year a set number of kits will be made each month and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. The kits will be put out on the first day of each month and will remain for sale until we sell out. Also different this year will be the addition of aida fabric to the kits. Some will have linen and some will have aida for anyone not yet using linen. Plan on being in the shop on the first of each month next year to be sure you get a Pillow Talk kit.
